Dr. Nitin S. Pagar is working as Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Sir Parashurambhau College (Empowered Autonomous), Pune, India. He holds an M.Sc. degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Pune (2001) and earned his Ph.D. in 2007 from the same university. His doctoral research was carried out at the CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, India; His doctoral work is mainly focused on hydroformylation reactions using homogeneous and novel heterogenized homogeneous transition metal catalysts.

Dr. Pagar has over 18 years of research experience (excluding his Ph.D.) and 16 years of teaching experience at the postgraduate level. His research interests encompass coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, and nanocatalysis. He has made significant contributions to these areas through research publications, funded projects, and academic collaborations.

Before joining this academic position, He has held prestigious research positions, including Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Republic of Korea, and Research Scientist in the R&D division of Navin Fluorine International Ltd. (AMG), Surat. He has also worked as a Project Assistant on a Government of India–sponsored NMITLI project at CSIR–NCL, Pune.

Dr. Pagar has published 16 research articles, contributed 4 book chapters, and presented his work in 30 national and international conferences. He is also acting as a reviewer for many international journals. He has successfully completed six major and minor research projects funded by agencies such as UGC (WRO), BCUD–SPPU, and RUSA 2.0. He has guided 32 M.Sc. research projects, supervised international student exchange projects with Gifu University, Japan, and is currently supervising four Ph.D. scholars.

In recognition of his academic excellence and dedication to teaching, Dr. Pagar has received several honors, including the Global Achievement Award (2024) and the Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Gold Medal Award (2022). He is a recipient of prestigious CSIR fellowships, including JRF, SRF, and NET (Lectureship), and has been recognized as a PG teacher and Ph.D. guide by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).
Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Pagar has contributed extensively to academic administration and curriculum development. He has served as Deputy Controller of Examination, member of Boards of Studies and Examination, syllabus restructuring committees, and as a paper setter and examiner for the Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INChO). He is an invited speaker at conferences and academic institutions and is an active life member of several professional bodies, including the Indian National Science Congress (INSC), Association of Chemistry Teachers(ACT) , Association of Nuclear Chemist) (IANCAS) and the Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS) etc.
