Poland
Dr. Tomasz Mikołajczyk is an electrochemist and academic teacher at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (Department of Chemistry), working on hydrogen production technologies with a focus on water electrolysis and electrode surface modification.
He also serves as Secretary of the Hydrogen Technologies Section of the Polish Energy Storage Association (PESA), where he contributes to hydrogen-focused training and industry engagement.
His training includes multiple research stays in Japan, including internships at the University of Tokyo (IIS).
Research interests
- Electrocatalysts and electrode engineering for hydrogen evolution (HER) and oxygen evolution (OER), particularly in alkaline media.
- Design, construction, and performance optimization of laboratory alkaline water electrolysers.
- Durability, contamination effects, and mitigation strategies for real-world electrolysis operation (materials, electrolytes, and interfaces).
- Project and technology development at the research to pilot interface (including project management and R&D coordination).
- Seawater electrolysis concepts aimed at suppressing chlorine chemistry and exploring unconventional anode/coating materials.
